October 3rd -- An open letter to All:
The International Institute For Human Empowerment, Inc. will donate $1,000 to the American Red Cross today. The money will be divided as follows:
- $500 for the World Trade Center relief
- $500 for the Afghani refugees
According to Sue Kidd Shipe, President, "Today the Institute will speak for all those who are members through philosophy alone. We will demonstrate that we support those who lost loved ones in the September 11 tragedy, and those innocent people whose lives are in danger abroad. We commit to ending terrorism, spreading friendship and peace, and dedicating our lives toward building a peaceful existence with our brothers and sisters worldwide. Toward this end we work, we give, and we pray."
In our continued efforts to unify people worldwide, the Institute will celebrate its 58th International Peace Meditation this Sunday, October 7, 2001. And as part of our efforts toward unity, we will make this donation representing all of you who participate in the Institute from the United States and worldwide. Please join us in prayer and meditation from wherever you are on October 7. Remember all those who are ill, injured, and in emotional pain. Ask that your prayers support the prayers of all others.
We would urge you to consider increasing the Institute's effort by giving to those who are affected by the hatred that manifested into horrific acts of terror on September 11. A physician has expressed concern that since the shelf life of blood is brief, there may be a shortage when the blood donated immediately after the attacks can no longer be used. Please remember to give as you are able, in memory of those whose lives have been taken, and in support of all those affected. According to the Red Cross, your check will be directed as you choose according to the memo in the lower left hand corner.
The Institute has also changed the annual date of International Unity Day to September 11. The book United We Stand and a letter asking for support for initiating International Unity Day was sent to Oprah Winfrey, Gov. Bob Wise of West Virginia, Mayor Rudolph Guiliani of New York City, and 25 television personalities including Morey Safer, Diane Sawyer, Daniel Schorr, Liz Bishop, Tom Brokaw, Connie Chung, Katherine Couric, Ed Dague, Larry King, Peter Jennings, Ted Koppel, Matt Lauer, Rosie O'Donnell, Regis Philben, Maury Povich, Dan Rather, Elisa Streeter, Ted Turner, Barbara Walters, and Montel Williams. You can help by contacting them with personal letters asking them to please use their position to ask people to celebrate International Unity Day annually on September 11 to help insure that those who died did not die in vain. I am happy to furnish you with addresses upon request.
As you meditate on October 7, let your thoughts be of Love. Ask to be Love's hands in the world. Ask that everything you do be done for Love. It is not only what we do, but the spirit in which we do it, that makes a difference.
May you know the unity of Love, the presence of Peace, and the wisdom of Knowledge.
'Peace is not the absence of war. Peace is the
presence of God'.
'Let everything you do be done for Love.'
Thank you for your continued support of, and participation in, the International Institute For Human Empowerment, Inc. The Institute is comprised of People Who Care; People Making a Difference.
