56th International Peace Meditation -- August 5, 2001
Dear Friends of the Institute, including
United States Senator Robert C. Byrd
Honorable Members of the New York State Assembly
Members of the New York State Education Department
Members of West Virginia University Faculty
This Sunday, August 5, we will celebrate our 56th International
Peace Meditation. At this time over 10 different countries, including
the United Kingdom, India, Taiwan, Spain, New Zealand, Japan, South
Africa, and Denmark have visited our web site, and have received the
invitation to participate with us.
The Peace Meditation is important because it unites people of all
faiths, races, geographical locations, and cultures in a common prayer
for peace, and in holding up those who are ill. We pray for healing in
our hearts toward one another, and healing for our bodies.
This month, as I write to you, one of my family members and two very
dear friends are gravely ill. I know that many of you are probably in
similar situations. Therefore, I am asking that we dedicate this
meditation to the healing of all those we each know who are in pain due
to illness or accident. Let us each ask that our prayers also include
the concerns of all others participating in the Peace Meditation,
thereby increasing our spiritual power exponentially.
Thank you for your participation in this important event which we
celebrate together the first Sunday of every month. If you feel so
inclined, please ask your church, synagogue, or spiritual group to
participate also. Together we can help make a positive difference in
the lives of many.
