163rd International Peace Meditation

July 4, 2010--

"Celebrate Diversity!"

We greet the morning sun
          Black, White, Red, Brown, Yellow
And we don't ask that the other be
          Excluded.

We see the sunset
          Christian, Muslim, Jew, and Hindu
And we don't try
To keep it only for our group.

We see hunger and devastation
Women, Men, Children, Able and Disabled
And we can't but notice...
          Poverty does not discriminate.

We see the stars
And know that they have led us through the ages
All of us...
          Numbers untold.

So why do we participate
          In putting walls between us
When openings create
          The wonder of Unity?

To All People, We Say,

          "Let's Tear Down Those Walls!"

Sue Kidd Shipe, Ph.D.
Executive Director
