Violence Abatement Proposal
Establish an Office of Violence Abatement to Which the Cabinet Would Report
Purpose: To coordinate all initiatives in the area of violence abatement including
prevention, intervention, and response.
Responsibilities:
The Office of Violence Abatement would be responsible to coordinate all activities among
other applicable agencies, especially all those that serve children and families.
These agencies would address violence that is physical, emotional, and spiritual
(of the human spirit) to children and adults.
Specific responsibilities of the Office of Violence Abatement would include:
- Providing equitable opportunity in education and employment
- Addressing issues that currently inhibit societal functioning due to stereotyping and distrust
- Promoting planning, strategies, and activities that have exhibited success in the area of violence abatement and providing oversight and direction in areas exhibiting need
- Reviewing and recommending legislation to ensure a balance of power between the aggressor and the aggrieved
- Requiring understanding of diversity of all in positions of power over the lives of others including judges, educators, health-care workers, program administrators, financial lenders, and policy makers
- Actively promoting collaboration across agencies in the area of violence abatement
- Overseeing the realignment of the justice and education systems to ensure appropriate strategies for youth in deterring and remediating criminal behaviors
- Seeking new societal remedies for meeting the needs of youth through constitutional amendment, and new attitudes and configurations
where there is no family to raise a child successfully.
- Establishing and disseminating adult role models that reflect character and / or responsible citizenship including respect for diversity as defined by acceptance of all characteristics rather than promoting power for a specific group or groups
- Promoting the acceptance of languages other than English while ensuring the opportunity for learning English as the common language shared by all
- Requiring planning by all federal agencies to ensure equity of opportunity through the development of career paths for all employees
- Requiring equity of educational funding for all children, and providing for the establishment of appropriate responses when these responsibilities are not adequately met
- Adhering to the ideal of democracy when making all decisions:
All people are entitled to be free.
The Office for Violence Abatement would be responsible to the
President of the United States, and the President would be responsible to the
People to ensure its success.
