• 53rd International Peace Meditation “A Message of Love”

    — May 6, 2001

During the season of Spring there is a feeling of renewal. As the dormant earth comes alive and bursting with life, we can sense a feeling of renewed hope in those around us.

For Northerners, the long cold winter is broken by the sweet sounds of birds gone unheard for many months. The distance between people seems diminished as a new-found neighborliness seems to emerge. The need to withdraw for survival has ended, and the warmth of the human spirit emerges to everyone’s delight.

Such is the way for us as a people of Love. Under the guidance and protection of One we call God, Buddha, Jesus Christ, Allah, and by many other names, we find hope in renewed commitment when we call upon that One, called here by a name that unites, “Love”. Love is important in all the great religions. Love is that which unites us across many human-made boundaries. Love is the energy of One, or God, in action. Love is that which joins, and brings us to a sense of peace.

This Spring, as we renew ourselves in friendliness, in outgoingness, in hope, let’s also remember to renew ourselves in sprit. The Creator Who provides earth, Spring, love, healing, joy, and a sense of unity across our diversity, is the same One who guides us individually and collectively. It is that Spirit, Love, that gives meaning to life, and direction to all action. Let us unite in our desire for Love to permeate our hearts, and lead us toward a world of peace. And let us remember that as Love guides us, we provide greater influence and hope for the world.

Jesus said, ‘Let your light so shine that people will see your good works and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.’ May we so dedicate our lives to Love that we may be a positive influence for children, a challenge to greed and evil, and a source of peace for the sick and dying. And may we always remain in the consciousness of Love–love of the Creator, and love for one another. So be it. Amen. Shalom. Peace.

PLEASE JOIN US IN PRAYER/MEDITATION FROM WHEREVER YOU ARE DURING THE 24-HOURS OF MAY 6.
